Dear Thoughtful Guardians!

Let's pause for a moment and admit it: our lives are a dizzying rush. Screens glow, information floods in, and often there's barely any time or energy left for what truly matters. But there is a secret key, a magic cure that builds the most cherished treasure of our future—our children's minds and souls: the story! 📖

Where Pictures Are Born: The Power of the Inner Movie

Don't be fooled by the momentary calm the TV or tablet provides! When a child watches a story on a screen, they receive the world pre-packaged. The picture is given. But where is the brain work? 🤯

In contrast, when you sit next to them and tell a story with words—especially with rhythmic, ancient formulas like "Once upon a time..."—something wonderful happens.

Inner pictures are born in the child's mind. This process, which psychology calls elaboration (processing), is not just a fantasy game. It's vital spiritual maintenance: these internal images help them process daily tensions, fears, impulses, and desires.

Just think: Why does a child immediately calm down when we tell them a story before bed? Why does a sick child's fever go down? Because processing relaxes the soul and the body! ❤️

The Gift of Play and Language: The Cornerstone of Thought

Inner picture-making is the essence of play, too! When a child asks you not to step on the rug because "it's the ocean," they truly see the ocean, even while knowing the rug is under their feet. This dual consciousness is the foundation of creativity and sovereign thought.

And here's the dramatic truth: Studies in Hungary confirm that a child who is read to every day can be up to a year and a half ahead in their native language development compared to one who hears stories irregularly. This is no small thing, because:

Native language is the foundation of solid, sovereign thinking. 🗝️

A child doesn't think first, then fails to articulate it. It's the opposite: they speak first and thought grows out of it. The richer their language, the richer the world of their thoughts are!

The Message of Courage: Prepare Them for Life!

We cannot let screens steal our children's imagination and future!

Please, don't feel ashamed if you're tired, and don't judge yourself if you haven't told enough stories until now. The future is what matters! This is the moment to make a change! 💪

How can you prepare your child for school, for life, and for success?

  • Tell them a story every single day. Make it your daily ritual, your most sacred time together. ⏰

  • Even at age ten, snuggle up and read aloud! A novel! David Copperfield, The Lord of the Rings, anything that captures their attention. 📚

This gift is not a fleeting experience; it's ammunition for a lifetime. Their life will prove whether you dedicated enough time to this: if they heard a lot of stories, they would read. And reading helps you live, increasing empathy and understanding of other people and the world.

Remember this: The child whose parents only let them watch stories will not become a reader!

Let's draw strength from this knowledge! Be the inner picture-making factory for your child, the storyteller who hands them the world. The time is ours right now: put down the phone, close the laptop, and let the magic begin! ✨

Based on the philosophies of Tamás Vekerdy, honoring the child's soul.

Questions for You:

  1. What was the most recent story you read with your child, and what was their strongest inner image from it?

  2. Which Vekerdy-inspired thought made you realize you needed to change your storytelling habits?
